GREEN LEGACY has developed a product that stores excess water and releases it back into the environment when needed - when the soil dries out. Polygrain is a superabsorbent hydrogel based on plant cellulose for optimal plant development in dry conditions and improved water management and is characterized by its high biocompatibility.

Hydrogels or superabsorbents are soil additives that are able to absorb and store up to 300 times their own weight in water and the plant nutrients dissolved in them. If hydrogels are added to the plant substrate, forest or cultivated soil, an additional supply of water and nutrients is created for the plant. Plants can thus bridge longer dry periods without stress and nutrients are available near the roots for longer. Hydrogels are safe and environmentally friendly.
